Yep.. it's happened to me... All you have to do is extend the "length" of the camera vertically (i.e. 283 with a bouncer on top and a motor drive below) and people immediately think you're "press" or "pro".
Show up with an older Leica and shoot available light a la "reportage" style and people don't pay any attention to you. Is it any wonder that the "pros" use Canon or Nikon higher end cameras such as the F5 or EOS 1v ? Those things are monsters with their battery grips attached. Of course it has its good and bad points: good - people usually will get out of your way so that you can get your shots bad - people usually will be forced to "pose" or shy away due to the size of the camera and you may lose any spontanaity. Luckily, Christenings and Baptisms are usually centered around the child who is too young to know how not to be spontaneous :) Cheers, Dave Original Message: ----------------- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Tue, 24 Sep 2002 13:39:56 -0300 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Looking Pro Hi Pentaxians, Lat weekend I was hired to shoot a Christining. I went in armed with my MZ-3, 28-105 lens, and Vivitar 283 flash. I also luged around a cheapo Minolta tripod which i didn't even use. Everyone thought I looked like a real pro when I taped a reflector board to my flash! Comments, anyone?
