I hear you. The company I work for finally broke down and bought me a Canon G2 (they were having a little guilt trip over some of their past actions). It's a nice little camera, and works great for most things -- except sports. To get the most out of it, I'll have to get a flash for it. It's very gadgety, and I would definitely prefer more of an SLR interface. However, the time it has saved me having to have film processed, scanning, correcting and all that other fun pre-press stuff is immense.
