"I'm afraid that many Pentax 35mm SLR users (not just the subscribers to
this list) couldn't care if Pentax never bring out another lens or film body
if there is no announcement of a forthcoming K-mount DSLR very very soon.
:-(

And justs to clarify I'm talking people interested in buying new equipment.
I'm happy with the performance of my dead end Pentax film equipment too."

???? Since when is film dead? Kodak upgraded 2 of their pro slide films.
Fuji will as well. Basically DSLR's at the moment are for pro's who shoots
LOTS of film (2000 rolls per year is about average: that's about $24,000 at
$12 a roll w processing) and can market their digital images. Many of these
are PJ's where digital is the accepted medium, but again digital is
filtering into other markets. Note that lots of magazines and stock agenices
still take slides only. Therefore a $5000 DSRL for a PJ is no big deal
considering the savings in film. However, someone like myself who sells
photos (pays for my equipment) but is not "pro" (don't make a living from
it), I'd be crazy to buy a DSLR today since it will go obsolete in 6 months
or so. I'd be $5000 poorer, and not wiser.

Yes, many of us here want new lenses. Remember that a camera body is just a
fancy light box; lenses have soul & make the photos. Pentax will bring out
new lenses anyway when they make a K-mount DSLR. If DLSR's are going to
become more common, why wouldn't Pentax make a K-mount DSLR when prices &
technology stabilize???

I think there will be room for film and DSLR's in the future.
