Well, besides some remarks coming in before the original email, it sometimes seems to me that it builds up a queue and all of a sudden, I'll get this rush of emails (can't be natural :) All in all though, fine work by Doug. I *so* missed it while it was down!
Btw, you are quite correct about the mailservers, may not be the list at all. Should run a trace on it and see the responses and number of hops.
