This summer I went on a number of day hikes with a group that wasn't "into"
photography. I found I was quite happy with a 16/2.8 fisheye, a K30/2.8 and a
K105/2.8.
A 100mm macro and a 28 probably would make good substitutes. Usually I carried a
Super Program or an ME, I do like to travel light. I took a polarizer, but no other
filters.

As a point of interest, I also have a ZX-5n and FA28-70/4 and FA80-200/4.7-5.6. I
think that these lenses offer excellent image quality, but I'm more of a primes guy
myself. I didn't find myself missing the additional focal lengths on my hikes. YMMV.
