folks always talk about 35 mm "dying" and then talk about quality of images. If 35 mm is dying, it has nothing to do with image quality, but with competition for other media such as digital. If image quality were the primary issue, the ratio of 35 mm film sales to 120 film sales would be different.
BYW, everyone talks as if a MF resolution sensor is impossible. There would be considerable advantages to packing MF resolution into a sensor smaller than 6x7 - aside from begin light the diffraction effects would better. I predict this sensor or simply an economically viable 6x7 sized senor is about ten years behind the 35 mm one. All the economic advantages of digital are even better in the MF arena.
