Brad, You gotta think outside the square dude, light means that you can get where you need to go with more of the gear that actually makes the photos. Carbon tripods are better at dissipating vibrations and if it is too light (which can be the case) then it can easily be weighed down. Manfrotto make a triangular apron that you fit between the legs that you can either dump photo gear or water bottle or rocks in to weigh down the pod. I had an 055 for years and I agree that it's a superb 35mm tripod, the Manfrotto carbons offer virtually the same dimensions and flexibility. Now if you were serious about a tripod you would have bought an 075 or 058 and a nice chunky 229Pro head :-) I guess too that you would have found the QR much friendlier (and quite useful) if you had purchased a Manfrotto head.
