Hi all. I just wanted to post a follow-up message about the recent thread on the FA* 300/4.5, that eventually pointed to a site in the UK that apparently makes tripod mounts for tele lenses. The site is http://www.srbfilm.co.uk/ - and if you go there and find your way to the "Adaptor Factory" pages and follow it through to page 16 they have an entire page describing the tripod lens mount. If you check the price list for the item, it is 44 UK pounds sterling, which I think is a steal for a piece like this, and 8 pounds more if you want it anodized. They describe the measurements you must make of the lens for them to manufacture the piece.
I have sent them a message asking some specific questions about the mount, including whether or not they can machine the bottom of the mount in the shape of an Arca-Swiss style QR plate. If anyone else is interested in this mount for the FA*300/4.5 lens, or any other lens, send me a message offline, and I while include you in the loop with my correspondence to them. Perhaps if we can order a number of them at once, they will give us a further discount. There is a lot of cool stuff on this site - it is definately worth browsing.
