Ooh - sorry. Of course, as I think you do suspect, just because
there is no ~visible~ oil does not mean that there might not still
be some oil gumming up the less visible parts of the iris assembly.

I've previously owned two of these critters, and neither ever had a
diaphragm (or, in fact, any other) problem. ("I feel your pain.")

I would think that, if you have a lens that is the optical twin of
the more-well-known VS1 90/2.5 Macro, and that (at 4.6 out of 5.0)
tested better than almost all others of the literally hundreds of
lenses tested by Photodo, getting it fixed would be well worth it.
