It is useful for even moderate telephoto lenses that are often used in dim light, such as the fast 200/2.5, to have a tripod mount. I am very happy that the Tokina AT-X 80-200/2.8 comes with a rotating (and removable) tripod mount (not unlike the neat mount on the A* 200/4 Macro). I do wish that the K 200/2.5 (or the A* 200/2.8, or the M*/A* 300/4) came with such a mount. Fred
