Well, I got up at 5:00 AM EST this morning, took my cameras outside, and
looked for the Leonids. It was partly cloudy over my suburban New Jersey
(USA) location. To the north, I could see Usa Major, a relatively faint
contellation, quite well, but the moonshine also let me see two cloud
formations on either side of it. To the South and Southeast, their were
clouds from the horizon to more than 45 degrees up. Neither Orion or Leo
could be seen at all. There was an open spot almost directly overhead, but
visibility was limited by the moon, haze and light polution, which was
intensified by the clouds near the horizon. I managed to see a dozen or more
shooting stars, but they appeared disappointingly short and dim. I made some
exposures, but I'm certain nothing will show up.

What a disappointment!
