My wife has been using a Pentax optio 430 before she recently went over to the Leica. In summer she searched among her photos for some that would be good for a sort of poster for the gymnastic club where she is busy as trainer. We learnt that the technical dates are not sufficient to garantee useful prints (the photograph knows this of course). The pictures that showed large structured elements turned out to be very good; especially the area (mostly background) that was not sharp mustn't contain too much details. They looked disrupted. I think it goes to the direction of bokeh-discussion. Like some macro-lenses and zooms don't give satisfying results besides the zone of sharpness in the picture the optio doesn't it , too. BTW this experience and the fact that you can't fix a greater flash on the optio to light a gym led my wife to change to the quite expensive L****. What could I say - I have spent more money on Pentax equipment. :-) To come back to your question: that depends, you see. but it is certainly possible to get a nice photo of 40 x 60 cm (from a 3 megapixel-camera, too, like a fellow trainer did).
Have a nice weekend Bernd ----- original Nachricht -------- Looking into picking up either an Optio 230 or 330 for a gift for someone this year, and was wondering if anyone'shad 4x6s printed from them and how they look? 5x7s? I've no idea what sort of practical image you can get from one of these, but since I know she's primarly interested in taking snaps, real prints are a requirement. I hope this doesn't qualify as buying myself a gift, I swear, I won't touch it for at leas tthree months! -- http://www.infotainment.org <-> more fun than a poke in your eye. http://www.eighteenpercent.com <-> photography and portfolio. --- original Nachricht Ende ---- -- Werden Sie Millionaer - im freenet.de Lottokiosk, rund um die Uhr geoeffnet. http://lottokiosk.freenet.de/?flx013lotto=54
