Hi, I'm reading a very interesting book at the moment called "Shooting under Fire". One of the photographers featured is Don McCullin. Here he is discussing his first overseas assignment, Cyprus in 1964:
"The next day the battle started in earnest. As far as equipment was concerned, I was in a muddle. I wasn't professionally kitted out, but I managed. I had a Novaflex lens that I'd bought from Larry Burrows. It was a 260mm lens and I had it on a Pentax body, which Phillip Jones Griffiths advised me to buy, and I had another Pentax, with a 35mm lens on it. The battle raged for a day...". He won the World Press Photo award for that coverage though, so never mind, eh? It's a very good book indeed - I had a nightmare last night after reading some of things McCullin says in it! --- Regards, Bob
