thanks for the ideas. i already have a couple of books by John Shaw and by Galen Rowell. i'll look into the other books. the reason i excluded picture books is that they tend to be more expensive, have more limited distribution, and there are thousands, if not tens of thousands of them, even if you just limit it to landscape and nature photography.
