Hi, currently, the guardian is rather uncommunicative in its logging. It neither logs its pid nor its startup. Only when it is shutting down via "remote request" or a signal (non-KILL, of course), or when it is restarting a pdns instance, the guardian is "heard" in syslog.
This makes it significantly harder to debug "ex post" what has happened on a system that has been misbehaving. May I ask to make the pdns guardian a little more talkative in the log? To me, most important thing is probably that it logs when it starts up, so that one can grep in the logs for the times that pdns was actually started, but when one looks at the guardian code anyway, there may be operating conditions that warrant a log entry as well.
