Just as a data point, PowerDNS Auth Server 3.1 should be in OSX's "Homebrew" packaging system reasonably soon.
Created a pull request for it the other day: https://github.com/mxcl/homebrew/pull/14627/files Included the SQLite3 backend by default, and made the PostgreSQL backend an option too. In theory, it should be accepted some time in the next few days, and then be easily available to other OSX users.
