Hi everybody, With all the action currently focussed on the PowerDNS Recursor, currently powering over 40 million internet connections (see http://blog.netherlabs.nl/articles/2006/08/09/running-powerdns-actually-makes-a-difference ), there has been a steady stream of bugs reported against the main PowerDNS authoritative server.
To address these issues, we are heading up to a release, but this is some ways off. In the meantime, people facing PowerDNS crashes might want to check out the snapshot release of the authoritative server available on: http://svn.powerdns.com/snapshots/882/pdns-2.9.21-svn.20060819.882.tar.gz http://svn.powerdns.com/snapshots/882/pdns-static-2.9.21.20060819.882-1.i386.rpm http://svn.powerdns.com/snapshots/882/pdns-static_2.9.21.20060819.882-1_i386.deb These snapshot releases have not had any serious testing, but may be interesting if you need to solve your current problems. These packages also contain a build of the PowerDNS Recursor, but it has not been compiled for performance, and will perform around 40% less than the regular PowerDNS recursor releases. Please let us know how this release works for you.
