This seems to be a long standing problem with PowerDNS: http://mailman.powerdns.com/pipermail/pdns-users/2005-September/002620.html
Simply put, if you point a wild card at a CNAME your sub domains may not work as PowerDNS returns incorrect data. If you ask for 'CNAME localhost.schwer.us' you will get the wild card data even though there is an A record for it. [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ dig cname localhost.schwer.us @pdns-lab.sr.sonic.net +norecurse +short schwer.us. [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ dig a localhost.schwer.us @pdns-lab.sr.sonic.net +norecurse +short 127.0.0.1 Interestingly enough, it looks like this was fixed in the tar ball Bert references in the above email, as I tested it and it does not exhibit the same behavior. -- Augie Schwer - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - http://schwer.us Key fingerprint = 9815 AE19 AFD1 1FE7 5DEE 2AC3 CB99 2784 27B0 C072 _______________________________________________ Pdns-users mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.powerdns.com/mailman/listinfo/pdns-users
