The system is a pdns with mysql backend and the recursor on the same machine, 
with an example domain with reverse lookup set up on the example. 
Pdns is bound to its local ip address (192.168.1.10) on port 53 and the 
recursor is on 127.0.0.1, other than that I haven’t changed any settings other 
those needed to make it work

You are not really giving any insight on how your system is set up. And please
