Hi,

there is no need to revert the database changes, pdns3.3 does also work with the pdnssec enabled schema.

Starting with 3.4 the pdnssec db schema is mandatory.

Cheers

Thomas

Hi,

if you keep the deb for your currently installed version, it is possible to
revert the upgrade in case of any problem. As far as I remember there are only
additional fields added to the DB. I had no problems with the 3.x upgrades.

Of course you should make a backup of your configuration files before the
update and also backup your database.

Hi,

you need to upgrade your PowerDNS version to 3.4 first, before you upgrade to
4.x. My old Debian wheezy based setup had already 3.4 will all MySQL DB changes
running. I installed packages from repo.powerdns.com for Jessie.

I'm not aware that there are other upgrading instructions beside the one you
already know.
While doing more research on this, I found in
https://doc.powerdns.com/3/authoritative/installation/
that I could run be running `dpkg -i pdns-static_$version_$arch.deb`.

So I downloaded it with `wget
https://downloads.powerdns.com/releases/deb/pdns-static_3.4.0-1_amd64.deb`.

Before I run the dpkg command, is there anything I should be aware besides
doing the mandatory SQL schema upgrade?
