Hey all,

Talking with Topher this morning reminded me of something that I'd been
meaning to do for a while. In setting up planet.pdxruby.org, he had
noticed that we were running a few different instances of lighttpd and
had little control over the virtual hosting.

This morning, I consolidated all of our apps under one lighttpd
instance, and asked PA to set apache up to proxy all requests to it. It
appears that we have wildcard DNS enabled, so that means we can add new
subdomains by simply adding them to the lightty config and restarting.

There are a few outstanding issues, the primary one being that the svn
server is currently inaccessable, pending David from PA returning from
lunch and tweaking the apache config. There is also an ownership
problem on some files under our blog which are causing errors but the
blog is still up.

For those with server access, I've written an alias (startlighty) to
spin up the server. When I have more time I'll set up capistrano for
all of our sites so that we can easily deploy them and restart remotely,
things like that.

If anybody notices any strange issues aside from the svn problem, please
let me know right away so I can get them fixed.

Sorry to have done this without consulting anybody, but I don't see a
downside and Topher mentioned that it was something we needed anyway.
We can go back to the old way if need be :)

Ben
