Installed it... and then every Rails app on the server stopped working.
Apache/Lighttpd and /tmp/ cleanups didn't fix it. 

Back to 1.8.2 and everything is running again. 

Has anyone else tried to play with it yet?

so far...

rubygems seems to setup correctly, but

$ gem install rails

ERROR:  While executing gem ... (TypeError)
    wrong instance allocation
