Watir is fairly different from WWW::Mechanize, or most Ruby HTTP client libraries, for the simple reason that it actually controls IE via COM Automation, rather than bypassing the browser to handle HTTP requests directly.
That means that you get all the features and quirks of IE, which is considered a *good thing* for testing how a site behaves for users running IE. (If we had solid XPCOM bindings for Ruby, you could do the same on a cross-platform basis by automating Firefox, but in the meantime, Watir sort of stands alone.) Of course, none of this answers the original question, which was where to find Ruby training support for users whose first exposure to the language will be through Watir. That sounds an awful lot like a job offer, and we all know how much the PDX.rb community hates hearing about paid Ruby work. ;) Maybe someone (preferably with some Windows-hosted Ruby experience) should bite the bullet and take the job, so we can all get back to our regularly-scheduled geek talk. -- Lennon rcoder.net _______________________________________________ PDXRuby mailing list [email protected] IRC: #pdx.rb on irc.freenode.net http://lists.pdxruby.org/mailman/listinfo/pdxruby
