I didn't see this mentioned on the list yet (might have missed it though), so I thought I'd forward it. XP PDX is talking about Unit Testing and Rails tomorrow. -Toph
---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Arlo Belshee <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Jan 9, 2006 11:54 AM Subject: [xpportland] Reminder: January meeting is tomorrow. To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Aaron Johnson will be talking about unit testing web pages and UIs via Ruby. If you've ever written a GUI- or web-driven application, you know the difficulty of using TDD on the front-end. Aaron presents several solutions, many of which use the Ruby language. He'll be discussing: * What GUI functional & unit tests look like, * Ruby on Rails, * Mock Objects, * An overview of Waitr. Ruby, like Python, is an interpreted language with a very clean syntax that supports OO, Functional, and Proceedural programming. This talk will also give you an introduction to Ruby. You'll see several of the ways that such a language can make your life easier, even if it isn't the language in which most of your application is written. The meeting is, as usual, at OGI at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of the month (tomorrow). The talk will start at 7. See http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?PortlandXpUsersGroup for more information, including directions to OGI. We hope to see you there. Arlo Yahoo!
