There was some discussion at Recent Changes Camp about OSCON related
activities. Allison Randal from O'Reilly was in the discussion and
she's the liason between the OSCON organizers and the various groups
that were represented. The idea is to have a Monday night (the Monday
night of OSCON) FOSCON-like meeting where the various groups all meet
in one large space (or perhaps many small spaces - that seems to be
what's being discussed below). Anyway, I thought I'd forward this on
to the group. We'll probably want to talk about OSCON-related
activities at the next meeting as a means to start planning. The
OSCON Monday-night activities make sense from the OSCON schedule
standpoint (they have open rooms that night) - the only issue for us
(and probably other groups) is that most of the out-of-town
Ruby-luminaries won't be in town by that Monday night, I would guess.

Subject: Re: Foo-style rooms at OSCON
I'll CC the main people involved on the Portland side, so everybody
stays in the loop.
Rather than a "session"-style room with rows of chairs facing a
single speaker, they're interested in an open, re-configurable space.
So, at any given time it may be 10 groups of 5 people, or 2 groups of
30 people, or anything in between. This worked really well at
RecentChangesCamp. Brandon, about how large was the room at the
University Place conference center?
