Perhaps we could try an OpenSpace format like was used at RecentChangesCamp and like is being proposed for OSCamp*. I'd be happy to facilitate if ya'll would like to give it a whirl.
* OSCamp is one name for the free, open space bazaar colocated with OSCON that is currently being contemplated.
I've noticed in the time I've been coming to the Pdx.rb meetings that when we don't have a fixed topic or presentation, it seems that attendance drops off. Now, given that, it also seems to me that OpenSpace format isn't really well-suited for small groups (based solely on my own assessment of group dynamics, I admit).
Personally, I would prefer the format where we have a more set topic(s) for the meeting with some discussion opening up from that followed by a more social event afterward involving a few pints of beer. ;~)
On the other hand, I don't have any topic suggestions nor anything to present, so...
I'm open to something different if that's what others would prefer.
