As per our discussion at the monthly meeting last night, I've created a Herder event for the hackfest next Thursday evening:
http://pdxruby.org/events/show/11 Please let me know if you have suggestions for locations, and try to RSVP early if you think you might make it, so I have some chance of gauging how much space we'll need (and therefore, where it could happen). For those who haven't participated in such an event, the format is pretty basic: we tend to spend an hour or so brainstorming features and making sure everyone has access to a suitable development environment, then pair off (hope fully with one more "experienced" user of whatever tools we've selected and one "newbie" per pair, when possible) to work for a while. Last time, we divided the work to be done by writing out about 50 primary features on index cards, shuffled them, and handed them out to the pairs, but I'd be open to other models.
