I Am Not A Graphic Artist, so I wouldn't be able to offer any mock ups
of this idea that would be of any use, but Mt. Hood came to mind when
thinking of a symbol of Portland with geometry that could resemble the
appearance of a ruby. (The "top" half of a ruby)
Perhaps a red Mt. Hood with harder edges in the background and some
subtle sky scraping buildings/trees in the foreground?
