Yep. I had the same question. Without going into details, let's just
say that somebody somewhere in the organization apparently doesn't
think SMTP is shiny enough.
Hehe. I've seen it go both ways. I inherited a project once where they'd used the UNIX print spooler (lpr, lpq and friends) to attempt high volume transaction processing. That was not good.
