All the links I've found to the Ruby Spread bindings seem pretty
stale, which is generally a bad sign for the project at the other end.
I've also heard anecdotally that Spread also isn't a great wide-area
messaging protocol, despite what it's proponents might claim; in
particular, it seems to have trouble with rapidly changing topology,
which is exactly what you get once laptops and roaming use are
introduced to a system.
