On MacPorts I find the docs and libs for gems here:
/opt/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/
Your distro may differ, but you should be able to find it now.
That's how I browse the rdoc and source.
ri should work for you, but not in the way you showed. The -T here
just means no pager:
scout:~ dturnbull$ ri -T flash
------------------------------------------ ActionController::Flash#flash
flash(
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Access the contents of the flash. Use +flash["notice"]+ to read a
notice you put there or +flash["notice"] = "hello"+ to put a new
one. Note that if sessions are disabled only flash.now will work.
