I'd like to see more of a party atmosphere than last year but at the same time I don't want to lose the focus on Ruby. I did taxi duty last year and got in too late to grab a seat. That was kind of a drag but I really enjoyed the presentations. If I'm remembering correctly most or all of the presos were "rejects" that didn't make the OSCON cut, right? I'm definitely in favor of retaining that format - just maybe adding a break or two to let folks stretch their legs, and having more open space for mingling and imbibing.

Ruby's getting more popular daily, and both of the previous FOSCONs have generated buzz. I think it's reasonable to expect significantly more people this year than last.

So in summary: larger venue yes, dilution of crunchy Ruby content no.

And I'd love to help out again.

I've never been to Disjecta, but I'll throw another place into the

$150 (includes private bartender)
$50 extra for outside food catering

Capacity: 75 people with seating for 60

We had quite a few more people than that in FreeGeek and people left because it was too crowded. We really need a location with more room than that if possible. Also, I would think the NW location would not be ideal for people at the convention center (whereas Disjecta, if available, would be ideal -- it's just a couple blocks away).
