Hi Tony,
The pebble indexes are generally flat files, they are not maintained in a
database, and are somewhat prone to corruption in cases of unclean
shutdown, and maybe (but hopefully not) race conditions, this is why we
provide a simple facility to reindex. I suspect your index was somehow
corrupted, and this led to the high memory usage that you were seeing.
Unless you see it happen again, and are able to reproduce the index
corruption, there's not a lot that we can do to investigate further at this
point.
