FWIW: I ran Pebble for many years @ port 8080.

I don't know if your SEO research is correct but running Pebble @ say
port 80 would depend upon which HTTPd your are running.

In the case of Apache this link appears to be definitive:
https://sites.google.com/a/ci2s.com.ar/wiki/technics/how-to-run-apache-httpd-and-tomcat-on-port-80-using-mod-proxy

The only caveat is previously Apache did not come with mod-proxy
compiled in so if this is still the case you will have to custom compile
Apache before this will work.

If you are using another HTTPd, say, nginx you will have to find the
docs as posted above.
