Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone had some help or advice for scoring the PEBL
Flanker task.
How should the flanker effect be computed for each participant?
I see the difference between average choice reaction times for congruent
and incongruent trials listed as Conflict Cost. How do I factor in the
accuracy? Should I also look at the differences in accuracy between
congruent and incongruent trials?
I've seen people refer to a combined weighted RT and I'm guessing that's
the figure I need to input into my data file.
Would that be the conflict cost divided by mean accuracy?
Or do I need to divide conflict cost by the difference in accuracy between
congruent and congruent trials?
I hope this isn't the wrong place to ask this. I'm just assuming that there
should be one figure to describe the flanker effect and I'm not sure if I
should only focus on choice reaction time using the conflict cost number.
I'm currently working on undergraduate research and specifically looking at
ego depletion; diminished cognitive control should also adversely affect
accuracy so I was hoping to factor that in too.
Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated!
Best,
Martha Clark
