Dear Ilya, Dear Shane,
Did you solve the problem?
I tried (actually still trying) the same thing - setting up PEBL so that it
sends triggers through a parallel port to an amplifier that is connected to an
EEG system. I installed a PCI Card with a parallel port. This is what I have
tried so far (maybe you should check that as well to see where your problem
lies - if you have not solved it yet):
[1 - check if you can actually send triggers] I used the program "LPT port test utility"
(you can find it online) to make sure that the problem is not anything else but PEBL. This was very
informative because it showed me that my Hex number is different to access the port than expected
(you can check your hex number within your device manager). In my device manager my parallel port
is LPT1, yet when trying the "LPT port test utility" it tells me I have to use LPTX
(because its a pci parallel adapter card) and manually enter my specific Hex number. Then I can
send triggers that are also visible in the EEG.
@Shane To access the specific parallel port we have to use openPPort("LPT..").
Where can I find the function openPPort() to look at its code to see if there is an
option to manually change the default hex number that the function is using to access the
I/O?
I know that a similar function in python is able to do that (included as an
input variable) so I am pretty sure that could also be in option in the
openPPort() function. I very willing to code it if I can look at the code of
the openPPort() function if I just know where to find it...
Thanks and best,
Mitja

Dear colleauges!
We are now trying to send EEG triggers from PEBL tests via parallel port.
We are working with BrainProducts ActiChamp. We followed the instructions
on the Parallel Port Wiki webpage but didn't manage to set everything up.
May be there are more detailed description of what should be done
somewhere? I looked through the PEBL-list archives but didn't find anything
relevant.
