The DMTS task in PEBL is very specific and could not be
easily  adapted.  However, a few years ago I did a MTS task for non-
latin characters for a similarity study for ICANN.  If you contact me
at my michigan tech account (shanem at mtu dot edu) I can share that
script. It would take some effort to make it work for your needs, but
it might get you started.
