More on the genuine luck side.

A year and a half ago, here in Montreal, we were looking for a Windows openGL software engineer & generic hardware engineer. After 25 interviews, we went through 4 software engineers, the first 3 who specialized in openGL apps. They all got the boot. The fourth specialized in software motor control for robots, he understood 3D graphics, but never touched openGL. He turned out to be the best we have seen. He did everything to spec the first try, took the least amount of time & properly documented all his work, though, he did turn out to be the most $ per hour & seemed to be the wrong candidate, his quick work would have saved us a bundle if we chose him first.

As for a hardware engineer, we are still looking for the right person & again, I feel the right person will end up being someone who doesn't seem to meet my qualifications just like my software engineer.

Brian,

Is that a show of pessimism or a genuine good luck? We've received a couple qualified responses. The designer that gets this work will be contracting directly for the end client, not subcontracting from us, so it could mean a new long term client for someone!

Short term contract position for designer in Florida, Broward County area. Must have DXP experience...

This job will require a month or more (likely much more) however the workload will vary and likely have many pauses during the design cycle, thus you will need to live in the Broward County area.

This is a micro motherboard design, which encompass a mainboard and several daughter boards.

Technology includes:
 * All standard motherboard busses (AGP, PCI, SODIMM, etc.)
 * Controlled impedance
 * HDI (Blind and buried microvias)

Qualified designer must be confident in all above areas and be able to complete the PCB designs unsupervised including all aspects of documentation for fab/assembly and generation of all CAM and Test data.

Anyone that is interested and meets ALL the above qualifications should contact me directly by email (please no phone calls).
