Ian Ok on the FUD, good one, I reckoned the explanation would make me smile. > Yes, I do get the idea that you don't find P2004 easy, due > partly to the reliance on the query statements (tricky design > rules require it, and to really get the most from the program > you do have to be able to use these queries effectively). Yes, I am glad someone get the idea, I do know myself that to get the best out of the software I need to know the best way to polish of my driving skills. The QL is one thing I cannot master, of course I won't give up, but, if I am alone, then it is one stupid user and not worth Altium giving it a second thought. If it's an issue for a lot of users, Altium should be taking note and looking to review the UI to a compromise format of high level usage where one does not need to appreciate Is, In, Not and parentheses / syntax to make selections or create rules. The world was very productive before DXP and the QL, it reminds me of using Pads and scripting every damn thing, one of the reasons I changed to P98 in the first place. > But I do know > there are many designers out there just getting on with their jobs. Having to like it or lump it, is not a choice. < snip > > >99SE anyways and well before you requested this as a feature. > > Who requested queries as a feature? OK, I was sure you pushed for this one, or at least was a strong supporter of it initially in the concept stage. Sorry if I got it wrong. It was part compliment as I do believe your contributions have shaped the product in many ways. I skipped the other conspiracy theory stuff as I do not think the comments were really intended for me. > P99SE has queries - just few people ever have to use them. Actually I did, not often, but I did, was only way to effectively select / edit some objects or primitives, polygons and polygons by layer being one of many.
