Don't get your proverbial panties in a twist, boys...

If 2005 (as suggested below) is not a tested, confirmed cutoff date for
Protel, my suggestion is this: Perform a date test yourself.

Increment the system clock by a year and run Protel. Do again until it
breaks. Tada!, you've found the year at which you'll be out of luck.

Honestly, I don't think the support issue is all that mysterious, since
Protel has obsoleted the old product in favor of its current offering.
Pretty standard behavior for many companies these days. Ever tried to
get support for a Creative Labs "Waveblaster"? I remember purchasing one
of these (a Proteus-based synthesizer engine daughtercard for the
SB16/Awe-32 sounds cards) and within ~2 years, they had deleted all
drivers and information for the original, and even though they had info
on the version 2 model, they had also deleted drivers for it...Quite
typical these days. If you provide support, then how can you force
people to upgrade?

My own expectation is that version specific files will begin
disappearing from the Altium/Protel site. My suggestion, to anyonoe who
cares, is to archive as much as you can (libraries, information, KB
articles, etc.) while you can, as soon as you can.
