We're currently looking into PCB routers for gentle depanelization of some mechanically sensitive PCBs. Machining FR4 produces very large charge buildups that can lead to ESD issues if not handled properly. On some routers, an ionizer is included to minimize the risk of damage due to ESD. Other machines don't have ionizers, and I'm told they are unnecessary since the spindle is fully grounded. Does anybody have any experience with PCB routing that could give me an relatively unbiased opinion?
