Yep - that too, however I should note that I found a bug with the '*'.
SOMETIMES (not always) if there are no conductive layers turned on, hitting
the '*' key will freeze Protel, forcing a restart.
This doesn't make any difference if you are in Single Layer mode or not
however...

Yes!! The only mechanism/edit control sequence I have encountered where
a similar problem will ALWAYS occur is when you BEGIN in DRILLDRAWING
layer and enter a copy/paste/drag/move operation but use '*/+/-' hot
keys to cycle through layers in order to employ 'electrical' grid-snap
for a rock-solid 'snap-on' change to primitive entity. Gets me every
time because I tend to forget about it during last (high-pressure/speed
stages) of any artpack completion. Been in 99SE since the beginning as
far as I recall.

Also, by using *, only the conductive layers are stepped thru which is also
handy.
I use that all the time also.

I use it for final checks on a board - for example, I turn on all layers and
Single Layer mode and step through each layer, giving it an eye-over (use
the + and - keys to step). Great for checking the soldermask layers, if you
have primitives on it, etc...
Also, when routing dense boards it reduces clutter on the screen - turn on
all your routing layers and no mess, no fuss! (Although it would be good to
see the rat's nest sometimes...) Just use the +/- keys to flip through
layers as you normally would.
Geez, I sound like an Altium sales-person... :P
There's plenty of other uses which I can't think of now - it becomes second
nature after you've used it a bit... Well for me anyway...

Yep - that's Single Layer Mode - Shift+S
VERY handy once you know it's there :)

Hi,
Protel99SE
I don't know what undocumented feature did it but I used to see all layers
selected, ie
Design, Options, Layers ticked the ones I want to see, however.
All I see is each layer as I select the tab.
(Or is the undocumented feature very, very, very late night user input error
??!!)
All the best for the seasons
