Tally up at least one such user. I like the octagonal pads as depicted within Protel for both squeezing traces past on the diagonal and to mark "special" pads such as testpoints. But I've been burned too many times at fab time by hte fact that Protel's depiction doesn't match standard gerber. Thus I never use those any more.
