I recall having problems getting 2004 to update changes to footprints too. A
work-around is to create a revised footprint with a new name (i.e. SOT23-001)
and add it to the schematic symbol, then try to update the layout (it better
take it then!).

Subject: [PEDA] PCB update from PCB Libraries

Hello,

I am using Protel2004. After I change the footprint of a component in the PCB
Library, the actual footprint in the PCB board cannot be updated. The operation
<Design -> Input Change From test.PRJPCB> says: No differences detected between
Schematic Document [test.SCHDOC] and PCB Document [test.PCBDOC].

I know in Altium Designer 6.0 this thing can be done with right click on a
PCB component and choose <Component Actions -> Update Current Components From
PCB Libraries>.

  Does anyone have an idea?

  Thanks
