Ben, List, I thought this was always clear, but just to underline the point: It is always possible to imagine or invent extremely radical forms of change and evolution affecting the laws in force from time to time, but neither Peirce nor Smolin is doing that, and such artifices would violate Peirce's assumption of continuity. So laws have higher laws on their backs to smite them ...
