I was struck by the appearance in your last note of the word sheer. I even
looked it up to be sure what I might be inferring. Alas no. I was not
wrong.  Sheer means "nothing other than; unmitigated (used for emphasis).
Now I know Peirce was capable of conveying his strongly held premises in
strong language. But in a dialog with someone who is well-versed in Peirce,
"sheer" seems an invitation to a good deal of extraneous back and forth.
Extraneous back and forth would be my tactless way of wondering if there is
a dynamic pf challenge in these discussions that is affected not so much by
their explainable sense as the codes around them. I am not expert enough in
