One can get trapped in terminology!
My own view is that the Final Interpretant is an existent not a
reality. If one defines it as a 'reality', then, to me, this suggests
an a priori determination of its nature...which will be 'eventually
articulated as an existent'. That denies the intrusion of Firstness,
of chance, freedom, change, ...and adaptation and evolution.
My view is that the Final Interpretant has to be open in its
existential identity and thus, can never be 'final', so to speak.

Gary, list, yes, so is the final interpretant the quest for
something, that maybe cannot be realized nor put into being? This
something, the truth, cannot be realized, but the final interpretant,
as a part of the sign, is real, and the nonexistent truth is real too,
as a goal. Without this goal, though probably futile, the sign would
not work, not even exist. Or did I use "real" and "exist" the wrong
way around, and the right way would be to say, that the final
interpretant exists, but is not real, as its truth is not realized?
Somebody said, that a sign is not a real thing. So it exists, but is
not real? Or is it real, but does not exist? I am not clear about the
difference between reality and being/existence. Maybe both are
inversions of each other, like existential and entitative graphs?
Existential graphs show what is (being, existence), and entitative
graphs show reality? Surely, this inversion would have a symmetry
break... at which point it would just start to become interesting, if
my cognitive capacity would not be over... error message: cognitive
capacity exceeded Best, Helmut 06. Juli 2019 um 21:32 Uhr

'final interpretant', then I think it is best not to think of it in
terms of 'truth' or 'belief', but as a regulative principal where the
'truth' of any and all matters inquired into is always but
asymptotically approached, never infallibly arrived at, never
'realized', so to speak. Best, Gary
