FYI GR 20th Annual Gatherings in Biosemiotics -- Call for Papers
July 8-12, 2020 Palacký University, Olomouc, Czechia Celebrating 20 years of existence, the Gathergins in Biosemiotics welcome contributions and new developments on the field of biosemiotics as an interdisciplinary and international effort, supported by the International Society for Biosemiotic Studies (ISBS). The increasing variety of methods and visions for biosemiotics makes the Gathergins in Biosemiotics an essential place of encounter for discussion, exposition and change in our knowledge of signification in biological processes. Researchers in biology, philosophy, psychology, linguistics, anthropology, cognitive science and other areas interested in meaning-making as a biological function are the backbone of such an interdisciplinary undertaking as that of biosemiotics, and we welcome submissions in any related area within the scope of the Gatherings. We particularly welcome research in the following fields: • Quantitative approaches to biosemiotics • Philosophy and biosemiotics • Evolution of semiosis • Biosemiotics and ethology • Cognitive semiotics • Semiosis and models • Umwelt research • Biosemiotics and phenomenology • Ecosemiotics • Interspecies semiotics • Biosemiotic education • Biosemiotic background of linguistics Abstracts should contain 300 to 600 words and should be submitted in any of the following formats: doc, docx, odt, rtf or pdf. One to three references are permitted in the abstract. Your abstract should contain the following information: • Title • Author • Author affiliation and contact information Please name your file using your surname or surnames in capital letters (ex. SEBEOK.doc). Presentations usually last for 30 minutes, including questions.
