Again, it is false that "all the various scholarly and esteemed arguments
for ’the reality of god'" are "ultimately circular and empty" because their
premisses do not *assume *their conclusion. Peirce himself states, "As for
... the presupposition of God’s Reality, most of the usually current
Arguments in its favour are Logically Valid, as Probable Arguments, however
weak some of them are; and the host of Nominalists who deny this are, upon
this and much else, led far astray from sound Logic, chiefly by their false
Metaphysics" (SWS:282, 1909). In other words, the only rational basis for
rejecting their common conclusion is rejecting at least one premiss of
each; and as I have acknowledged, that usually comes down to an
individual's personal assessment of its *plausibility*.
