Biasanya untuk semi submersible rig. Ini ada beberapa catatan tugas-tugasnya
sebagai bahan pengetahuan mereka yang berminat menggeluti bidang ini.
Biasanya rekan-rekan dengan minimal ijazah ANT-II yang menangani hal ini.

JOB SPECIFICATION:
1/ The ballast control operator (Chief Mate) is responsible for the rig
maintaining a correct and safe attitude with respect to trim, list and
deadweight.
2/ He is responsible to the OIM/SSL for all ballasting operations.
3/ A daily stability calculation shall be carried out each evening before
0530 hrs. This wl show all relevant criteria applicable to the rigs safe
operation.
4/ The BCO will assist the SSL as required.
5/ All work permits wl be issued by the BCO in numerical sequence. No other
work permit pad wl be authorized.
6/ All charts, navigational publications, statutory publications pertaining
to the rig wl be maintained by the BCO.
7/ Standing order for control rm operations wl be read and signed by each
BCO upon joining.

STANDING ORDERS:
1/ Read and understand company directives concerning ballast system and its
operation. This includes emergency ballast system.
2/ Under NO circumstances is the rig to exceed 1.5 degrees list or 1.0
derees trim. Should a request be made that exceeds this amount I am to be
informed immediately. No action to be taken until such time.
3/ If in doubt STOP. Close ALL valves and reasses the situation the informed
to the OIM/SSL.
(Catatan: Matikan pompa dan tutup semua valve, lalu periksa penyebab
kemiringan. Kalau sengaja diminta oleh Rigfloor sebaiknya biarkan sampai
pemberitahuan selesai dan boleh dikembalikan ke posisi normal. Tidak ada
salahnya dicheck karena kemungkinan mereka lupa akibat kebanyakan kerja).
4/ All valves on the panel are to be cycled each 12 hours shift. Any defect
is to be logged.
5/ All valves on the panel are to be cycled once each week and times for
opening/closing to be logged.
6/ Any defect, repair, restriction, anomaly or unusual occurance is to be
logged and brought to the attention of the relieving BCO. Immediate action
should be taken to rectify the problem.
7/ Remember, the panel is back to front. As you face the panel the stbd side
pontoon is on the portside of the control room.
8/ Once you have lined up for a ballasting procedure, re-check the lines
before starting any ballast pump.
9/ If any item on the panel is not working, tag it out.
10/ Adhere strictly to the ballasting/deballasting procedure as laid down.
11/ Maintain listening on the prescribed VHF frequency.
12/ Keep SSL up todate regarding deck loading. Ensure that rig at all times
has sufficient stability for projected loading.
13/ Daily operation report to bve updated and completed every 24 hrs.
Entries to be made 4 hourly under normal conditions. Anchor tensions to be
logged hourly if relative wind exceeds 35 knots.
14/ A rough log wl be kept in the control room and wl contain entries (but
not limited to) such as:
a. Boat movements
b. Helicopter movements.
c. Ballasting problems.
d. Loading/discharging times.
e. Ballasting times.
15/ A continues monitor wl be kept of rigs draught and all tank gauges.
